Schos Fishing School Basic Skills Fishing Lessons
Scho’s Fishing School : teaches individuals or groups, both young and old, the basic skills of Recreational Fishing using various safe locations around the Port Stephens and Myall Lakes regions in NSW.
The idea is to have fun while learning about Australia’s recreational fishing environment, sustainable fishing practices and safe water based recreation activities from our friendly staff.
Basic Skills 1
Before you can expect to bring home a catch you must first learn some basic fishing and water safety skills.
Firstly learn some basic fishing safety rules then how to tie fishing knots, how to rig up correctly and how to cast accurately.
The next step is collecting or catching your own bait or choosing a lure to suit the situation and your target species.
Different lures are designed to 'work' differently through the water. Learn how they work
Then it’s time to get out there after your prey. Feeling the bite or Knowing when to strike makes all the difference
Basic Skills 2
After the basics have been mastered it is time to go bait collecting. Catching your own beach worms, pipis or yabbies is not only fun but it will save you a lot of money over the years.
Once we have the bait its then off to a beach, rock or lake destination to put your skills into practice. Remember to plan your trip well
Choosing the right gear tackle and bait is imperitive for a successful trip and keeping your pack as light as possible will become second nature.
Skills Practice
Right it's time to get out there. Put all your skills into action and become the 'Great White Hunter'. Bring home dinner for the family.
Hire some gear and create your own adventure.
Remember the skills you have learnt and all will be well.
Don't forget to tell someone where you are going and when you should be back.
Cheers Schoey
